Men’s T-Shirt GSM Guide

Men’s T-Shirt GSM Guide

160–180 GSM: Lightweight Basics

This range suits lightweight everyday tees and high-volume programs. The pattern should account for drape and the collar needs enough recovery to hold shape.

180–220 GSM: Premium Everyday Range

This is a practical private-label range for brands that want a more substantial hand feel without moving fully into streetwear-heavy construction.

220–260 GSM: Heavyweight & Oversized

Higher weight supports a stronger silhouette, but body width, shoulder position and collar construction need to be developed with the fabric rather than copied from a lighter tee.

280–300 GSM: Dense Boxy Streetwear

Very heavy jersey can create a premium boxy silhouette. Sampling is especially important because excessive length or narrow width can make the garment feel stiff rather than intentional.
